A critical limitation of standard Account Forecasting is that it supports the Salesforce standard fiscal year, not custom fiscal years. Salesforce explicitly lists this restriction in the current Account Forecasting considerations.
This is an important design decision because the fiscal calendar directly affects period generation, forecast aggregation, adjustment windows, and how forecast information aligns with financial and operational planning.
Option B is no longer accurate under current functionality. Salesforce supports Opportunity Product Schedules in Account Forecasting when Product Schedules are enabled, allowing forecast calculations to use opportunity quantity and revenue schedules.
For organizations requiring greater flexibility, Salesforce recommends Advanced Account Forecasting for new implementations. Advanced Account Forecasting supports broader data sources, custom measures, sophisticated calculation logic, custom fiscal years, and additional forecasting structures. In fact, Salesforce documents that custom fiscal years can be configured for Advanced Account Forecasting and are required when using weekly forecast frequency.
Therefore, before selecting standard Account Forecasting for UC's combined one-off and run-rate planning, the consultant must establish whether its fiscal-calendar requirements are compatible.
