This design allows the same slot ID,category-banner, to appear on multiple category pages while maintaining independent configurations because the category context differentiates each placement. Salesforce documents that an < isslot > can useglobal,category, orfoldercontext. For category-scoped slots,context-objectis mandatory and must resolve to the applicable category. Business Manager consequently groups and manages category-slot configurations by category.
< isbanner > is not the B2C Commerce content-slot tag, and < iscontent > controls response/content characteristics rather than creating a merchant-configurable slot.
This approach separates storefront placement from merchant content configuration: the developer defines the slot location once, while the merchant controls the actual banner configuration independently for each category.
