When using controller-based WLANs, configuration profiles (e.g., for SSIDs, VLANs, radio settings, etc.) are defined on the controller and then assigned to APs—often by AP group or based on AP naming convention or location. This enables automatic provisioning once APs connect to the network.

“Prior to deployment, profiles should be configured on the controller and associated with AP groups or individual APs. Once connected, APs will download their configuration from the controller automatically.”
