The OceanProtect Appliance supports host file backup and NAS file backup.

Huawei explicitly states: “To back up host files, you must install a data protection client on the host and back up the files in LAN-Base mode.” The first part of the statement is therefore correct.

The second part is not. For NAS backup, the course describes protection of OceanStor V6, OceanStor Dorado, OceanStor Pacific, NetApp, and other third-party NAS shares. For applicable NAS systems, NFS or SMB shares are mounted using the NAS protocol for backup and recovery. It does not define installation of an NDMP client on the NAS host plus mandatory LAN-free operation as the standard NAS backup workflow described here.

Huawei further explains that Dorado and new-generation OceanStor hybrid flash systems can use snapshot-difference and block-level transmission technology for high-performance NAS backup, whereas other systems can use NFS/SMB access. This demonstrates that NAS protection is selected according to the source-storage capabilities and does not universally depend on the asserted NDMP-client/LAN-free combination.

Because the second half of the statement is incorrect, the complete statement is FALSE.
