Constraint rules must execute while users configure complex products, so excessive nesting, redundant expressions, unnecessary relationship traversal, or overlapping rules can increase runtime evaluation cost. The correct optimization is therefore torefactor and simplify the CML modelwhile preserving the business constraints.
The architect should identify duplicate rules, consolidate common logic, use reusable constants or expressions where appropriate, simplify relationship scopes, and remove constraints that do not need to execute at configuration time. The objective is to reduce the search/evaluation complexity without weakening technical or commercial validity.
Option B compromises the core value of Product Configurator by allowing invalid combinations during configuration and detecting problems only afterward. That would create poor user experience and downstream rework. Option C moves the validation to Apex triggers at quote submission, which executes too late and abandons the declarative Advanced Configurator engine built specifically for configuration-time constraint enforcement.
Performance optimization should therefore improve theconstraint model itself, not bypass it.
