An administrator needs to attach a Volume Group to a Virtual Machine (VM).

A Volume Group is attached to an existing AHV VM through the VM-management or Volume Group modification workflow. The administrator selects the VM for modification, accesses the Volume Groups section, chooses an available Volume Group and completes the attachment. Therefore, option B describes the applicable lifecycle stage.

A Volume Group consists of one or more virtual disks that can be presented to a VM as SCSI block devices. After attachment, the guest operating system discovers the disks and the administrator can initialize, partition and format them according to application requirements. A Volume Group can also be managed from the Prism Element Volume Group interface, where the Attach to a VM action selects an existing target VM.

A storage policy governs storage behavior and does not itself attach a Volume Group. Migration changes workload placement or location but is not the standard attachment workflow. The initial VM-creation workflow focuses on defining the VM’s compute, network and ordinary virtual-disk configuration; attaching an existing Volume Group is handled as a modification after the VM entity exists.
